Top tips for a fun, safe and rewarding visit

Help us care for our coast

We all have a part to play in protecting our Norfolk Coast, and small actions can make a big difference.
Here are some of the ways you can take action for nature.

Help wildlife thrive

Our coast is home to an incredible array of species, but they all have one thing in common…they need their space! Be sure to keep your distance from birds and seals on the beach, steer clear of any cordons and follow any signage. Remember that you are sharing your surroundings with many other creatures – even if you can’t see them!

Take the right path

To really escape from it all…please follow the paths! It may be tempting to take a shortcut, but when you walk away from the designated path there’s a real risk that you could accidentally trample on delicate vegetation, or even a well-hidden nest. And if you’re planning to gather round the campfire at the end of a long day, please do so only in designated areas.

Leave no trace

No one likes a litterbug, and we all have a responsibility to preserve our coast for future generations. Clear up after your picnic and be sure to make use of bins and recycling services, or take your rubbish home with you. That includes food waste such as banana skins – did you know, they can take up to two years to break down!

Follow the canine code

We’re a very dog-friendly coast, and want to make sure you and your pup have the best experience. So keep them under close control, don’t let them chase wildlife or livestock, put them on the lead when asked and make sure to clean up after them.

Keep it green

When we picture our perfect day out on the Norfolk Coast, it doesn’t tend to include queuing for the car park. Why not consider taking the train or bus for your next adventure, or trying out one of our region’s many cycle routes?
